Lifework is a social enterprise created to improve the lives of residents and communities in the West Midlands in general and Sandwell in particular. SCVO Trading Limited adopted the name “Lifework” in October 2009 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sandwell Council of Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), a registered charity and umbrella organisation for Voluntary and Community Organisations in the region.

Some facts about Lifework:

• We have held a series of contracts to deliver a wide variety of services in the West Midlands since we began in 1998. Our ethos is that every contract we undertake should have a positive impact on the communities.
• Our mission statement: “We exist to improve the lives of the people within the community we serve”
• Through our new home and garden improvement service Home Care plus, we help local unemployed people into work through volunteering opportunities.
• We currently deliver Environmental Contracts for Sandwell MBC and Sandwell Homes. Through these we provide a garden and estate clearance service to enrich the living conditions for local residents and security improvement services to reassure and empower victims of burglary, domestic abuse or other vulnerable people.
• Our Training & Education Department offers a wide range of apprenticeships designed to combine tuition and practical work experience whilst also meeting the service needs of our business partners. We also offer a wide range of flexible vocational courses at all levels.

Lifework’s core business is structured to maximise a positive impact on the community and to support the unemployed through work experience and training opportunities.
