I had been unemployed for over 2 years before coming to lifework and I was desperate to get back into work.  I’ve been a factory worker all my life and never been on the dole.  Although I had always worked, I could never read or write and found it really difficult to find a job because of it.

lifework staff helped me to to identify all the things that were stopping me from getting a job and didn’t even judge me for not being able to read or write.  They encouraged me to start learning basic English and Maths and also registered me onto a basic IT course.  I was a bit reluctant at first but when I got into the swing of things I found that I was actually learning something new; I started to enjoy it.

I’ve learnt so much as well as finding a job from the support I had off the employment team.  I’ve been with my employer now for 7 months and have recently been offered a 5 year contract.  Without the support from lifework, I don’t think I would be where I am now.
