Before I came to lifework I had been unemployed for about 6 years. Previously I had been employed as an IT Project Manager. I was suffering from depression and had no confidence since my marriage broke down and I became a single parent. I was also having massive financial problems as my mortage insurance was ending. When I was referred to lifework by the jobcentre I was extremely nervous about meeting the people there because I thought I would be judged for being unemployed for so long.
When I arrived for my first meeting with lifework I was really nervous and wanted to turn around and go back home but somehow I managed to get through the doors. All the staff seemed really friendly and I started to feel a little less anxious. When I was introduced to my coach we chatted for a while and I soon felt comfortable enough to tell them all about my problems.
With the support of lifework’s employment team and the encouragement from my coach I was able to attend a job interview without feeling nervous. I couldn’t believe it when I was offered the job and I am now slowly regaining my confidence. I’m also enjoying every minute of being back in employment.
